Becoming A High School Teacher - 1227 Words
For a young person like myself, any thoughts about careers are foggy. We are too busy enjoying our youth, something that does not last forever. However, now that we are in high school, we must begin to consider the possibilities. After going through the Career Cruising process, I have settled on one potential career to explore. Based on my interests and skills, I would like to become a high school English teacher. A high school English teacher has many aspects to his job. Foremost among them is the actual teaching he must do. A high school teacher must plan, create, and execute lessons for his specific discipline (ââ¬Å"Occupational Details for Secondary School Teachersâ⬠). After those lessons have been taught, a teacher must be able to accurately assess each studentââ¬â¢s skill level (ââ¬Å"High School Teachersâ⬠). And in the world of education as it currently exists, a teacher must spend the year preparing the students for the state exam at the end of the school year (ââ¬Å"High Schoolâ⬠). However, a teacherââ¬â¢s job extends beyond teaching. For instance, teachers must be communicate effectively with parents and maintain educational records electronically (ââ¬Å"Occupationalâ⬠). Every teacher must also manage the behavior of his students throughout the day (ââ¬Å"High Schoolâ⬠). A teacherââ¬â¢s day is packed with those meaningful obligations.
